The Hung Shui Kiu crash left a 54-year-old woman dead after a collision late on November 2, according to Hong Kong police. A 53-year-old driver was arrested.
The government’s police notice says the collision happened at about 11:09 p.m. on Castle Peak Road in Hung Shui Kiu, with a private car travelling toward Yuen Long. The car reportedly struck the woman, who suffered serious head injuries and was taken unconscious to Tuen Mun Hospital. She was certified dead at 12:17 a.m. on November 3.
Police said the driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and was being detained for further enquiries. The notice said the New Territories North traffic special investigation team was investigating. An arrest is not a finding of guilt.
Reports differ on the calls after the Hung Shui Kiu crash
RTHK reported that a man told police he had driven past the scene and suspected he had hit someone. The broadcaster said police later received a separate report from a passerby who found a woman unconscious in roadside vegetation.
On.cc reported the sequence differently: it said a passerby called police at about 11:09 p.m. after finding the woman, and that the driver later reported from his home that he suspected his car had hit a pedestrian. The official notice gives the approximate time of the collision but does not describe the order of the calls.
The reports agree on the central facts: a woman died after a collision, and police arrested a driver while investigating. They do not establish precisely how the collision occurred or resolve the difference in the reported sequence. Police have not announced a court finding.
Police continue the Hung Shui Kiu crash investigation
The government notice asked anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to contact the investigating officers at 3661 3800. It did not identify a cause for the collision. The available public statements give no basis to infer one.
For now, the confirmed public record is narrow: a fatal collision, an arrest and an investigation still under way. The circumstances remain for investigators to establish.
